Hundreds of events with great networking and community relations potential take place each week in the Baltimore/DC metro area, but very few people within the Baltimore Hip Hop community actually take advantage. * It's time for the Baltimore "urban" music community to start realizing that we are responsible for capitalizing on the "buzz" the city is experiencing (RIGHT NOW) ourselves. Attention spans are short and before we know it, Baltimore's chance to really make an impact on the worldwide music scene will have come and gone. * NO ONE IS GOING TO COME IN WITH BAGS OF MONEY, ORGANIZE AND TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO CAPITALIZE. * We have to get it together ourselves! 
Successful entrepreneurs have a passion for sharing their vision and helping others. They also understand the importance of making connections with potential customers, funding, and marketing partners. Why do I have to pay to perform?
We are not holding an open mic on 8.18.06 @ The 5 Seasons, this is a NETWORKING EVENT, talent showcase with VERY limited performance slots and After Party with DNA.
In our experience:
4 minutes is more than enough time to make an impression.
The best way to ensure a crowd for performances is to keep the admission cost low (This event is $5 all night and ladies are ABSOLUTELY FREE before 10 PM)
The best way to ensure that only SERIOUS artists participate in the showcase is to make performers invest in the event.
MATH:
Its cost $25 for solo acts and this includes a hype man or manager
- so if a typical event cost $10
- Both of you would have paid $20 to get into the venue
- and if another of your friends comes.......you all would have spent $30.
It costs $45 for a group (this is up to 5 actual performers on a given song)
5 people in a group at $10 a piece = $50
we've structured things different, but it's the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY.
On just about every day of the week there is an open mic or opportunity for proven artists to secure "a performance slot" and display his or her talent (in many places for FREE). If you come to the event on Friday, I will be more than happy to connect you with people (many of whom will be present) that can offer you these opportunities.
If you are a serious performer and you really don't have the money -TALK TO ME. No one EVER tries that. I am very approachable. Rather than you taking the position of "I'm not paying to perform", as if we don't ALL pay some cost or another while climbing the ladder, you need to find out what you have to do to get your name on the short list of potential FEATURES for future shows. Anyone that has ever asked me about performance slots has gotten the same response, "Invite me to your next event and let me check out your stage show". This showcase is for the people who have very limited performance opportunities but who know if given the chance and proper playform they will shine. This event was not designed with all performers in mind, we want to bring in the fans and people serious about conducting actual business.
* What saddens me is that so many people NEVER want to invest in themselves AT ALL (not on their clothes, CDs, photographs, promo materials, admission costs, relationships) and entertainment is a "MONEY MAKING" business. If you never spend it....you'll NEVER make it. TRUST

Discover the benefits of SYNERGY! THE DEFINITION OF A MOVEMENT! The SYNERGY of the local community is the mission that consumes most of my time. Those of you that have been following my progress know that I hold a yearly Hip Hop History Month celebration during the month of November ("Happy Birthday Hip Hop") under the SYNERGY banner. This word symbolizes so much because it is all encompassing. For your information: SYNERGY is (pronounced SIN-ur-jee, from Greek sunergia, meaning "cooperation," and also sunergos, meaning "working together") Let's break it down:"The combined working together of two or more parts of a system.....".
"COMBINED WORKING TOGETHER OF TWO OR MORE PARTS" This could be two artists, two fans, two promoters, two ideas, two businesses, etc The "SYSTEM" The "local industry", "current music community", "night life social structure", etc "......so that the combined effect is greater than the sum of the efforts of the parts..."This SHOULD be self explanatory, but this is the same as saying, "LETS WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER" or "TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE" or "TEAM = Together Everyone Achieves More" or "None of us is as smart as all of us."
