M.O.L. is the newest MUST HAVE mixtape!!! It features 18 tracks produced by some of the Mid-Atlantic's best producers including Phat Head of Head Nod Entertainment, Darkroom Productions, Ms. Tris Beatz and RASHEED and features all of the artists under the Top of the Hill Records umbrella. *
Big Ups to Bunny, Tim, Fire Arms, Gata Shiest, Baby Beast H20, Notty Head and Lace!!!! You gentlemen pulled off a glamorous Hip Hop affair @ the 5 Season .....Now, THAT'S gangsta!!! I had the distinct pleasure of hosting their album release event last Friday at the 5 Seasons. It was most defintely a family affair up in there. D of the 5 Seasons is Notty Head's brother. Small world! I felt so at ease with all the ghood folk in attendance.
* I loved the lighting, the run way (YES! you missed it!), the whole girl/guy perspective on the fashions and models, the designer clothing/hand bags, food, etc. Notty Head was the absolute best choice for the fashion show host. He is so charming. He could see the girls before i could so ...he would say stuff like "yeah yall this is yall favorite model". I'm like "damn....when did the men convene and decide which one was their favorite model?" LOL! It was cute - Male Telepathy- I guess. Big Ups to the ladies of FICA Media Group!!! The ladies modeled clothing and handbags from 3 area boutiques including www.sweetesttamu.com. Big Ups to Kelly, K-Con, Ms. Tris Beats, Keebe, Ogun, GEM (formally known as Tha Plague- full story coming soon!), Rell Ruger (Stick-N-Move), 5 Seasons staff and Ms. LyneeMichelle (It was so nice to meet you). Thanks again M.O.L. for the invite.
* As for the mixtape:
All money ain't ghood money, BUT this is Ghood MONEY!!!! Woah! This CD is definitely COPPABLE!!! @ $5.00....i'd even say $10... Hit up M.O.L. A.S.A.P. * I can honestly say that everyone really impressed me with their ability to distinguish themselves as distinct personalities on this project. Oh course some people stood out more than others, but everyone showed that they really have something to bring to the table. M.O.L.: I am mad that you didn't list who was featured on each of the songs. You was gonna make sure a person listens to the damn CD and figure out who they like for real. I love that yall didn't do a whole bunch of talking. I love that you just let the music speak for itself. * Below are just a few thoughts that came to mind as I listened...take it for what its worth! Enjoy! * Intro H20 - Hillarious Intro! He is so serious! He is just tellen it like its tis....Baby Beast "Breakin the bars on the cage"...LOL! I can picture it! * Money Right - Gata flexed his muscles on this one! Love the flow ova the track. Phat Head (Head Nod Entertainment) gave up a banger fo sho! Definitely an album cut!!! I agree, when your mind and money is right you can say "F*ck H8ters!!" * You Don't Know - (Dark Room Production) - Baby Beast speaks from the heart on this one. It always amazes me how deep and introspective people get with their music. Lynee Michelle backs him up on this track with guitar rifs throughout it. I liked it alot. I wish the the female vocalist would have done more. It would have been nice to hear her adlib some of his words for emphasis. Overall very good music! * How Ta Ride This - (Ms. Tris Beats) - Lace got things started with a fast paced down South flow. He really shines on this song. It was cool to listen to him show some flexibility. Fire Arms comes on strong as always. No surprises in that department. He is so aggresive...you really feel him when he describes his Baltimore existence. * What Da Fuss - (Dark Room Production)- A Baby & Sheist collab - A FAVORITE SONG CONTENDER!!!! Gata - Yeah! You was spttin some real ish on this one!!!! "Sittin round complainin waitin wastin time for what/Ill tell you what....Well ima keep it movin while you stay stuck/cant be like these broads... waitin for a check every month/I hustle hard so I can get whateva the f*ck I want" * Day 2 "Day Situations" - (Head Nod Entertainment) - Fire Arms at his best! You gotta love it!!! - NO SERIOUSLY!!!! * Strangers in Da Streetz - (Dark Room Production) - Lace and Baby Beast do a good enough job on the verses, but I wish the hook would have been developed further. VERY SOLID beat/production. * Reasons - This track is Ms Tris Beats at her BEST! Sampling truly is an art. I love this song. I think it will prove to be a very ecouraging song for people having a hard time staying focused and faithful that the hard work will eventually pay off. The perfect song for this beat!!!! Very heavenly! All of the MCs did their thang on this one. * Why Father?- (LIVE Beats) - Baby Beast and Fire Arms * Tell Me Nuthin - (Ms Tris Beats) * Come Back 2U (Ms Tris Beats) Baby Beast * Head Nod - (Head Nod Entertainment) - Fire Arms * Set Up Shop - (Head Nod Entertainment- LOVE the VIOLINS!) - Fire Arms- I remember this verse very well. He performed it at a Style Warz Im sure. Fiyah! Gata Shiest is slept on by far to many....I hope this mixtape makes people wake up and recognize. Lace shines as well! * Baltimore Niggaz - "How Ya Feel" - (Ms. Tris Beats) - Sounds a little Wu Tangish to me...so Baltimore people will prolly love this song!!! LOL! Very hot....definitely has "re-play"appeal! * Same Shit (Ms Tris Beats) - The "Hustle And Flow" sampling has begun....."It got to work!" Fire Arms, Baby Beast...I know there is someone else on there too, but can't make them out.....great song! I am sure alot of people share your sentiments * Bonus Tracks All the Same - (Off the Hamsterdam Mixtape) - Definitely a STAND OUT track!!!! * Where We From (Off the Hamsterdam Mixtape) - Fire Arms - YEAH YEAH YEAH - He KILLED It!! Notty Head kept it real! * Take That - Fire Arms - THIS IS THAT PiFF H20 was describing!!!! he he!!! ROTATION MATERIAL - puff puff pass!
