I want to thank E the poet-emcee & the entire Torchlight Entertainment family for inviting me to September 9, 2006's Hip Hop / Spoken Word Sound Clash @ The Baltimore Theater Project. I HAD A GREAT EVENING!!! * The show was given in celebration of the release of "The E-mmaculate Perception", a new CD from E the poet emcee and featured performance from many of the area's premier Spoken Word and Hip Hop performers. The Theater Project is such a nice venue. The seats are kinda close together and I always need an aisle seat, but all in all...it's really comfy. The lighting was wonderful.....I don't know WHAT was up with the sound. That was DEAD WRONG!!! ......My hat TRULY goes off to all of the artists for keeping their cool and not lashing out at the sound man. I would imagine that this show posed new and intersting challenges. They are not use to this type of show...LOL!
* Hosted by Archie the Messenger (GREAT host - full of energy and good humor!), performers included AB Rock, Rhonda L. Taylor, Ogun, Messiah, B-Fly (introducing her new band, "TRIBE OF JUDAH"), LOVE, Jamma Wun, Naima, Golden Seal, Bomani "D" Mite Armah, Swan Grace, E the poet-emcee and quite a few others (not listed on the program). They were giving out free "EP" cds, but OF COURSE I forgot to grab one. * Special shoutout to the ladies or Rah Energy!!! These ladies always do a phenominal job of keeping all of the Torchlight Events running smoothly. Plus...they made sure my glass stayed full last night too...LOL! I admire these dynamic ladies staying power tremendously!!! * Unfortunatley, I didnt get any pics....BUMMER!!! but Kelly of Music Monthly sat right behind all night....flickin it up!!! I know she got some....prolly got the back of my head in a few too..... so check back often...maybe I'll have a few to post later on. * Side note: Speaking of K- Con and MM, check out this month's Street Beat! (Sorry avail. in the print version of Music Monthly ONLY). It was a great read! - fo sho! Plus, she has a pic from the first IBB show which features Wylie Mc Croy looking very passionate...LOL! I love it. * Shout outs to: Crooked Streetz Fam Brown F.I.S.H. Femi the Dri Fish (& son) Ike from MYSPACE/Head Nod Ent Ebony Elle GS so Fresh! B. Flizzy Swan Grace Kariz Karen Ogun Mykeey Judah Kelly - sorry for rollin out without saying bye! Jabari (Solvivaz - make sure you all attend the RBG party) &...........erebody else that I spoke to, winked my eye @ or shared a piece of gum! * After the show....a good number of us checked out Cut Man Lord Kaseem's new Saturday jump off at Joe's Pizza Squared (North Ave. & Howard St.). Reflect Son (Golden Seal) was up in that joint cuttin a serious rug.... LOL! Please don't tell her I told you. The price is right - FREE......the Atmosphere is great (real dim and chill)...the food was great (we had a meat lovers pizza. It needed a lil salt, but over all really good. You can tell they make their own pizza sauce) & the music was off the chains. This DJ rocks!!! I can't really speak on the drink prices ( or specials)...a sistah is broke so I drank water with lemon all night. See yall next week! Come and check it out for yourself. * |
i was gonna go to joe squared, too, but i was sooooo sleepy. no reflection on the show, of course...lol
i didn't get a whole lot of good pictures that night. the lighting wasn't really strong enough and it was a little too far for my flash to work effectively.
here's a good one of naima, though:
