Even if you don't like them, you got to RESPECT them!!!
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation said Thursday that it was making a $3.5 million "challenge" grant in tuition assistance to new low-income students in Baltimore's Catholic schools. Buuuuuuud, Weinberg? isn't that a Jewish name? Jewish people giving to Christians (christian education, no less).....WOW! We have come a long way (some of us anyhow). These folks must have a lot of money to go around. Every major hospital has benefitted from their generosity. What's next?? I wonder.....Is the Weinberg family in the ground rent holding business?

Baltimore committee releases report on gangs, aims to combat problem But at least one member of the CJCC thinks the gang problem in Baltimore is not as bad as it's made out to be. * "I don't know if it's as serious as they say it is," said Frank Conaway, clerk of the Baltimore City Circuit Court. "I'm out on the streets all the time, morning to night, and I just don't see it." Conaway said he also took issue with the report's findings that 94.2 percent of known gang members are black. "It's almost unbelievable," he said. "There are no other gangs in the city other than African-Americans? How do you really know who's a member in a gang, anyway? Who's going to get arrested and say, 'Well, I belong to a gang?'" * mmmmmmmmmmmmh! The city shakedown will continue. I see how this new profile could lead to more unlawful arrests, but his comment about the problem not being that bad - I will have to strongly disagree. The gangs are everywhere. Visit the 26 - 27oo blocks of Edmondson Ave. Signage is all around.
* This is what could happen all over the city when Baltimore's citizens (hip hoppers included) grow the F-up!!! Carmelo's 1.5 Million dollar Christmas present to area youth Giving is becoming infectious!!! *
Two new retailers could join Target as possible anchors for Mondawmin Mall as owners of Baltimore's oldest shopping mall move forward with a $70 million makeover. The city's design panel yesterday approved schematic plans for Target's exterior designs. Also, Shoppers and Marshalls were publicly identified for the first time yesterday in renovation drawings submitted by Chicago-based General Growth Properties Inc., which owns Mondawmin.
Yall mofos gonna stop calling Mondawnmin ghetto! They don't put Tar - ghay's in the hood!!! *

* True story....I was just talking to someone about the Orioles "golden age" of the 80's. Believe it or not......once upon at time....the Orioles presence was felt all over Baltimore. Tickets were affordable (I guess more so than now) so whole families would go to games. I remember loading into the back of my aunt Beverly's hooptie and riding over to Memorial Stadium on 33rd with all of my cousins. Man....games were fun!!! If I sit quietly I can still hear them......."Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie" (if you from B'more....you know what I mean!)
THERE MAY BE HOPE:
The latest talks between former Baltimore great Cal Ripken and Orioles owner Peter Angelos about the future of the club involve a new wrinkle.
The two are discussing a gradual transfer of ownership from Angelos to a group that would include Ripken, major-league sources tell FOXSports.com.
I have my own thoughts on why Steele did not win. Here is another theory:

Rap mogul Damon Dash is launching a new clothing line called CEO and a new social networking site under the name "BlockSavvy.com", reports Allhiphop.com. "This is our version of a Myspace, but I don't want to say urban Myspace...its like a social networking system," Dash told the Web site of BlockSavvy. "It's got a lot of interactive components and the technology is off the hook. As for his high-end fashion line CEO, Dash says: "I'm an old school dude, not very trendy. So, if people are not dressed the way I'm dressed, I'm going to make clothes that reflect that," Dash told AllHipHop.com. "I've always been an oak, and I say that to say that the same thing that I'm wearing now, I could have been wearing in '85 and '95." Watchout MYSPACE!!! ..................
Did anyone else hear that he stole Beenie's SP logo?
