Jay-Z, The Nets Holding Contest For Team Theme Song
Jay-Z, along with New York radio station, Hot 97, and NBA team, the Nets, have launched a contest giving amateur artists the chance to write and record the theme song for the basketball team. The winner, which will be chosen by Jay himself, will have the opportunity to perform the song live at a Nets home game this season, where the artist will also meet the rapper/label CEO. "The Nets are a hot team and we're looking for a song to match the intensity of the players and the game experience," said Jay-Z. "It's going to be fun to hear the different ways that fans capture the flavor of Nets Basketball through music. "Reps from Hot 97 FM and the Nets will screen each song and narrow the field to the best three. Carter will then pick the winner, which will be announced on Hot 97.The winner will also have the opportunity to record the track at Baseline Studios II, a professional recording studio in Manhattan.In addition to having the song serve the team's official theme song, it will also be played on Hot 97 and at subsequent Nets home games.
