EJ @ Strictly Hip Hop (2-25-06)

EJ showed up for his (on-Air) interview last night (Strictly Hip Hop Morgan U 88.9 FM) dressed to the nines. This turned out to be a suprise addition to the prize pack (A surprise for both of us. THanks Ahk!! That meant a lot to him.) The brotha was C-L-E-A-N. I sat in on in his interview...so I can tell you first hand....HE IS A STAR!!! So charming, articulate and commanding in any environment (as this interview proved)!!! He closed out his interview with a few freestyles/songs that LITERALLY bought tears to my eyes. He is destined to be successful. A&Rs...Record Labels....Lawyers....holla @ him before the bidding war begins. Big Ups to you CHAMP!!! You carried yourself in an exemplary manner! Ima get a copy of the interview and post it for yall when I get it from Ahk. Thanks Ahk for the love you've shown the Style Warz team and EJ! I'll be in touch!

HEADLINE: Super Style Warz 2005 / SOLD OUT!

    Sorry for the delay........
    Ok k k k kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Where do I stizzart? Last night was such a beautiful thing!!! It felt so good to have so many friends in the building last night. This is prolly the first time that everyone that said they were gonna come…actually came. I heard there were people in there that I didn’t even get the chance to see- show love. All of the lovely and prophetic words I had prepared were thrown out the window quickly. The more ghetto the crowd got (& I mean ghetto in the best way possible!) the more my nappy roots started to show. There were so many emotions I was feeling last night….I am so glad that its ova!!!

Yall know how I do….so here it goes:

I want to give my sincere thanks to our judges (pictured below-black and orange caps) , Bilal (of Crushforce) and Ahk (Host of 88.9 FM Strictly Hip Hop). I know your job was extremely hard- especially last night. Thank you for your willingness to assist us with the monumental occasion. Quite a few times I think yall split decisions on purpose tho…LOL! Can’t say I blame ya, but in life sometimes ya gots to make a decision. I didn’t hear tooooo much complaining this time around…so I guess that means yall can still show your faces in the streets. Bilal….you and that damn bladder! LOL! You didn’t even give me a heads up….I look up and you are gone. I am glad you got that together. I must admit, it was nice having my "nig**".... in the front row. LOL! Also…make sure yall tune into Strictly Hip Hop tonight and EVERY Friday (12:30 AM – 5:00 AM) to hear Ahk and the family (L.I. & Scooby) cut up. Tonight is special because EJ will be in the building this evening…so ya know this is gonna be a good one. He is a character, but yall already know that. Thanks Ahk for continually holding down the Baltimore underground. Your contribution is so very essential to all of our success. Cop that Street Dreams DVD also…as mentioned last night, aside from the videos, freestyles and other typical hip hop DVD highlights….he has this very informative segment on “The Purp”….man o man…I didn’t know their were so many varieties. There is also a great interview with Ms Tris beats. I liked how he captured the essence of what Ms Tris puts into her music. She isn't merely a beat maker- she produces music…there is a major and recognizable difference.

    STYLE WARZ COMPETITORS:

I want all of you to know that…. You all are stars!!!
    EJ
    O’Neil
    Peeg
    Shakeen “The Analyst”
    *
The difference between you all and the “rookies” was unmistakable. Each one of you [in your own way] has so much to offer the game. I know many of you felt you were robbed and I know a few of you know that you lost. Quite a few of you OBVIOUSLY prepared for the evening and quite a few of you got up there and winged it. All in all….I think you all have nothing to be ashamed of and so many things to be proud of. I appreciate all of you showing up and participating….that was so very real!!! 1 out of 11 to not make it…is truly amazing. All our previous champs will be receiving T-shirts and write-ups once we get spithotter.com together. Beyond this, I am going to refrain from stating what I thought of each of you individually…if you care to talk, feel free to hit me up!
    *
Congrats to our 1st Super Style Warz Champ (2005): E J
    *
Style Warz in my mind is about charisma, flair, lyrics and showmanship. In all of those categories he excelled. When he hit the “Yall know who I am..Style Warz King....jack pot…di di di di da ding ding” ( $$$$ - shot! I wish there was a way for me to spell that sound….LOL!) I knew he was hot! Had had the crowd going crazy....people are still commenting on that line. He came in the door ready to win- PLAIN AND SIMPLE. That wasn’t even EJ’s best Style Warz performance, but it was most definitely his most prepared performance. He even came equipped with lyrics specifically about the event. That showed that this was not just another competition to him. I am so very proud of him! I wish you nothing but good things! Now, create a demo dammit!
    *
The finals was between EJ and Midas. Both did a hell of a job. The final round was an original song of their choice (with their own beat). While both songs were really good...it was EJ's that has the crowd the most involved and ultimatley impressed the judges the most. Midas has nothing -AT ALL- to hold his head down about. He is a champ as well...that's already been proven. You live to play another day Midas!! EJ ..they are gonna be coming for ya!!!!
    *
Big Ups to our 2 Rookie Contenders:
Iceburg held Philly down. He is most def a very talented performer. I hope that he will come back [although, I doubt he will….LOL]…I think that Baltimore would feel him a lot.
Low is inches away from winning a Style Warz. He has been in it a few times and I see how he is making further along every time. He performed in both competitions…"free" and "super" SW! You really did your thing last night!
    *
Our performers last night were some of the best that Baltimore has to offer:
    Ogun and Real 2 Real

Lil Kim on B.E.T. Thursday March 6, 2006
When they sent Martha Stewart to prison, I knew right then and there that “times-are-a-changing. They sent a middle aged white (FEMALE) cultural icon to prison - yeeeaaaah Kim's ass was grass!" C Love
    *
I will admit….for a min…I was being insensitive….thinking about how pictures might get out about what she looks like in her prison garb or stories about how liquid (puss) oozes out of her face tubes at night...LOL!, but then it got VERY real to me. Another woman going to prison. DAMN! All my silly thoughts and chuckles quickly turned to sincere prayers for her and her family. I can only imagine the drastic turn her life has (their lives have) taken during the last year. People were on TV and in radio interviews (including so called friends) talking about how stupid she was for not talking (or lying) without regard for her feelings or without really knowing what was going on in her mind. I can't say I've ever heard her really talk about this issue directly- so who knows why she did what she did. Then to have a supposed "TELL ALL" DVD to come out (hosted by none other than a former dependent Lil Cease) ....that had to be another blow during one of the roughest patches in her life. I would of had to go on a radio show or something and air some people out....but NO she was the picture of decorum. So prim and proper all the while prolly sick on the inside. Watching her story unfold has made me really look at her in a new light. I always viewed her as a “ryda”….look at how she got down for Biggie- “wife be damned!”, but I really forgot…that she is real person underneath all that make-up and plastic. The pictures of her coming out of the courthouse and the devastation I read across her face were heartbreaking. She wasn’t LiL Kim…she was Kim Jones. She wasn't an internationally known rapper...she was "Kim" my next door neighbor growing up. Prison truly is an equalizer. Her story, like so many other women is not that uncommon. There are so many women that are in prison because they held something for their men… There are so many women sitting by the phone accepting those expensive ass calls.... There are so many that get "caught up" only to later become the fall gal. The latter is the saddest. How is it possible to get more time being the girlfriend of a drug dealer than being the actual dealer? (Read "STAND BY YOUR MAN") I’m tired of reading books about women that stand by their men. I am looking for that one that tells it like it really is out here. I am all for supporting your partner, but I am not sure that the really necessary message to young women is being expressed. Without getting reeeeaaally deep….I can’t really sum up all my feelings on this issue. As a woman who has “held” a man down….I tell women to worry about themselves first. Don’t put your self in danger or debt trying help someone else because there is no guarantee that a man (or woman) will do it for you. But I also know that you can't tell a person this....this is a realization that one must sadly come to own their own. REAL TALK!
    *
My message to men: stop laying guilt trips on women. Jail is supposed to be solitary....time to get your mind right. If you don't want to go to prison stop breaking the law. Her willingness to “ride” with you is no real indication of how good of a person she is….stop being selfish and self-centered. Start being stand-up citizens and start really taking care of us. Women...if you love your man...leave him alone if he wants to ONLY sell drugs. He will eventually end up in jail or dead (and you will be alone anyway). Long gone are the days where women can say…”I was ignorant to what was going on around me”….”I don’t know where my husband works”. A conspiracy charge oftentimes carries more time that if you would have actually been charged with committing the crime yourself.
    *
I realize that Kim's situation was a lil different, but the code she lives by (which wouldn't allow her to snitch) is very similar to that of people that are "from there". Is it right- yes! absolutely!....just wasted in this particular situation. They didn't deserve your loyalty, Kim...MOST don't deserve the loyalty, but we usually don't realize it until its too late.
    *
A good friend of mine is an acquaintance of hers and she has been to Baltimore on several occasions just to hang out. Her shouting out B-more in “Lighters Up” was real…not just something to say b/c it rhymed. So b/c of that alone....I have to show her love and let her know that people are still out here thinking about her and praying for her. God Speed, Kim!

Jay Z and The Nets need a few hot bars
Jay-Z, The Nets Holding Contest For Team Theme Song
Jay-Z, along with New York radio station, Hot 97, and NBA team, the Nets, have launched a contest giving amateur artists the chance to write and record the theme song for the basketball team. The winner, which will be chosen by Jay himself, will have the opportunity to perform the song live at a Nets home game this season, where the artist will also meet the rapper/label CEO. "The Nets are a hot team and we're looking for a song to match the intensity of the players and the game experience," said Jay-Z. "It's going to be fun to hear the different ways that fans capture the flavor of Nets Basketball through music. "Reps from Hot 97 FM and the Nets will screen each song and narrow the field to the best three. Carter will then pick the winner, which will be announced on Hot 97.The winner will also have the opportunity to record the track at Baseline Studios II, a professional recording studio in Manhattan. In addition to having the song serve the team's official theme song, it will also be played on Hot 97 and at subsequent Nets home games. Entries will be accepted from now until March 5. For more information regarding the contest or to enter, visit http://www.hot97.com/ or http://www.njnets.com/.
It would be so hot if an artist from B'More won...Good Luck!

Today was a heck of a day!

Was having a pretty crazy day...

    1) thought I lost all the Style Warz registration slips and money --OMG! I called Mo Banks like 10 times...LOL! Thank you for not zapping on me...
    2) My boo surprised me and took me to lunch and my dumb ass left my salad on the table. The spot Alisa's in the shopping Ctr on 41st makes the best grilled chicken salad in the world. OMG! Its almost like a cobb except there is no yucky avacado. I ate less that a quarter of it and was stuffed like a PIG.
I am so damn mad.....right about now... that i don't have my yummy salad.
    3) was feeling a lil like I hate Hip Hop cause all the people involved in it are self-centered. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!

    THEN................

    1) came home and found my book on my window seat, but under the curtain.
    5 minutes longer...I would have torn my house apart....My mother's fault...LONG story!
    2) Still don't have my salad, but im gonn treat myself to a nice dinner at the Mall ( got to get an outfit for SUPER STYLE WARZ on THURSDAY)
    3) B-Fly hit me up and not only renewed my faith in hip hoppers, but also reassured me that not all women are crabby! Thanks for the love B

......I know I just mentioned this the day before yesterday, but I just got a hold of the flyer...LOL! Speaking of B.......her publicist, Tasha of Divine Ideals, is sponsoring an all female revue next weekend in downtown Baltimore. The spot is called the Belvedere Lounge (its in the basement of the Belvedere Hotel on Chase Street). Doors open @ 9:00 PM. I believe the admission is $8 (but have 10 just in case). There is a relaxed dress code, but no one will look at you crazy if you pull out the courderoys and slippery Earls. Ca$h Bar. The vibes will no doubt be very positive....really cool to bring a date without fear of having to slap a fool. Aiight, fam....until lata!

Can't wait to see the sistahs throw down!

Tell me that flyer aint hot as hell!!!!
