    GS so fresh @ SONAR

I am so sorry, guys!!! I know many of you are ticked that I wasn't able to satisfy your curiosity this morning, "what is this touched chick gone talk about today"....I was taking care of some grown up business all day and didn't have the time to finish this post before I rolled....so you had to wait!!! ha ha!!! It's Friiiiiiiiiiiidaaaayyy, cut me some slack!!!
I am sooo full of apologies.......
I promise I am gonna resume the practice of going out and taking pictures in a second...LOL! Bunny from Top of the Hill REALLY got on me and expressed his dissapointment about me not attending thier show at Sonar last night. He actually said out his mouth, "You are like the mother....."[the rest just makes me feel worse]....LOL! The old adage goes, " if you fail to plan then you plan to fail"....I am plannin right now!!! I hate this whole "Miss Courtney" syndrome quite a few people seem to suffer from. I am not that old...LOL! I'm just confident. Anywaaaaaaaaaaaays, shout out to all my peoples that peformed last night [Lost Souls, Dirty Hartz & Kartel]....you can find links to the performers [I know] on the right side of the page. The Kartel sometimes posts videos too...........so geddauuum!
I want to apologize to my girls from Golden Seal [<---------Check out their new site] for missing their video shoot. I HAD NO IDEA. I just happened to check the Myspace event invitations [I never go past the first page...sorry] and I found yours....OMG!!!
This to be sooooooooo tight...... I HAD TO POST IT:

We are happy to bring to you our femme fatale kick-ass women's anthem "SISTAS PIMPIN" .....
We'd like to thank all that are singing along with proud confidence at our shows or in your cars and homes while listening to the song.
First I would like to clarify the term "Sistas Pimpin" ....
It's all real tongue-in-cheek actually but I still feel the need to 'splain what we mean..
When we say sistas pimpin we are speakin to the women who are grinding, focused, confident, working, hustling, struggling to make life a better place. She's the chic that commands all the attention when she steps in the room....she knows how to swing them hips, raise the babies and negotiate her own deals on the regular. She has her pick of men... She loves real HARD but beware ...some say she's a heart breaker.... she's beautiful and wise, HUMBLE and assertive when appropriate.
    Excerpts from the verses:
And please believe at the end of the day.... "You betta have her money" ( LOL) ....
We are releasing a video with the dropping of our new single and are calling all co-pimpstress colleagues to the shoot. So if you fit the bill ..... show love with us this saturday (5/13) ...from 1-3 pm!!
    Ja Alah-Ai a.k.a. Jahli
    Much Love from GS
That was soooo hot! very beautifully written....I wish I could have wrote it!!!
I am so sorry I missed the chance to represent!!! It's a real feel ghood song! I can vouch for the crowd appeal of this song having seen it performed live on several occasions. GS usually freaks it with a band which is already gonna have the people real attentive....but then they do this lil accent...that "pimp speak" that automatically makes you smile!!! LOL! This song will do the trick when those ocassional pick me ups are needed! LADIES...YALL KNOW WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT!!! Us, Pimpstresses need a lil reassurance from time to time TOO!! Go awn, girls!! Mixtapes, videos, merchandise, DVDs........... & all with a big smile. I love it!!! ......Pimpin ain't easy, but yall sho make it look fun!!!

Star's WILD azz got a lil too Buck!!!
Everyone that promotes the Hip Hop culture in any way should have a clear understanding of Hip Hop's influence. "There is a war going on outside"....There is no way that people can use the excuse, "I'm a rapper, not a role model" with a clear conscience any more [Charles Barkely was publicly lambasted for making a similar statement back in the day]. This is yet another fine example of what happens when grown folk forget that they are still grown folk despite the fact that they are being paid to act like a child.

As many of you know, most of today's Hip Hop headlines announce that Star (<---pictured grey) of the infamous duo, Star and Buckwild, was fired for making some ignorant ass comments on air. The thing that kills me is that almost every single major headline has Hip Hop in the title in some kind of way -- WHY??

    As stated on
"Hip hop has nothing to do with the statements made by this dj. None whatsoever.... It's funny, when a Rock N Roll Dj gets fired, the type of music the station formerly employing said dj doesn't get mentioned. In fact, only when it is hip hop is the music mentioned....."

AllHipHop [& SOHH.com] seems to be one of only a few news sources to call it as it actually is....Star Fired Over Sexual Statements About Rival's Child
I for one am tired of the negative stigma attached to Hip Hop by the media...when is enough.....ENOUGH??? Is there anything that can be done to make them stop??

    Taken from
NY Daily News: "Hip-hop jock's sick rap"
"Torain offered listeners $500 to tell him where the daughter of nemesis DJ Envy, of Hot 97, went to school."
    Oh my!!!
Yes, I disrespect your seed," Torain ranted. "If you didn't hear me, I said I would like to do an R. Kelly on your seed. On your little baby girl."

Torain, 42, described in graphic detail what he meant by the reference to the R&B singer Kelly, who allegedly committed an unnatural act on an underage girl, a stunt captured on a widely circulated video.

WTF? He should freakin know betta. I hope Envy doesn't respond, but a man should NEVER talk about doing anything to someone else's kids. The child he was referring to is 4 years old.

    Newfound respect

Some of you may know...I am going to be dropping a mixtape in a min. and although I have a great team A&R-ing the project for me...there are so many details that must be attended to. WOW!
I am in the process of working with a designer on the cover and other promo items (I'm like the title is "XYZ"..what the problem iz?...LOL! For future reference: Definitely not enough information) ....I am working with artists whom sent songs in which the bars were hot, but the beats were sub par (I want to show love to erebody, but seriously...some people just ought to have sent acapellas or drops!).....I am trying to secure a venue for an official release party (these venues in Bmore don't play fair at all....that is why I am not messing with any of them until the recognize what is going on round here!!!) .....Tryna get my "local celebrities" to send in their music (you can always tell who is truly the hungriest!!! Some are gonna be pissed when erebody is on there, but THEM & I can honestly say, DAMN Near everybody is gonna represent on there!!! YIPEE!!!) .....Tryna to get confirmation from retailers, bootleggers, websites and blogger that they will carry it and/or post ad banners (what is the point of creating and packaging a product if you have no place to sell it??? I am most def not with all dat hand to hand biz).......Coming to the conclusion that I am gonna have to put more into this project than I origianally anticipated (people keep telling me...."You need to talk to the people").......
I know I prolly sound like I am complaining, but I'm really not...this was just my way of saying to all of you out there grinding and strugglin....tryna figure out how to make things happen....I respect you to the utmost! Not everyone is cut out for this biz!!! .....those of you that actually accomplish the task of putting together a CD deserve sooooo much credit. Regardless of whether it's an album or a mixtape, done properly, requires a tremendous amount of time and focus...never mind the associated costs (which can vary based on the quality of sound you are going for). Keep up the very necessary work.....See ya @ the TOP!!!

    Who loves ya darling???

Was checking out Hip Hop Ruckus today and was put down with a blogger that I am absolutely diggin right about now. This excerpt is from today's "A Dirty South Perspective" blog entry:

"Notice down here, Hip-Hop is a movement. Every city has their own artists, but collectively, everybody is from "The South" be it Memphis, Miami, ATL, H-Town, etc... That collectivity and unity is what has helped the movement so much and Master P always let you know that he wasn't putting you on that "New Orleans Shit", he was putting you on that "Down South Shit..." And that's why everybody Down South felt him because he made himself relative to your situation..."

Anybody that has ever sat in on one of my State of Baltimore Hip Hop rants knows....this is the piece of the puzzle that I always say is missing here. Everyone always wants to use the South as the "gold standard" for how to get on...yet no one really pays attention to the actual moves they make!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!
Let's get people on this Baltimore ish! At this point...who really gives a damn about your CD being ready to drop?!?!?!?! Please read the entire article...dude makes some really great points!

Spoken from the pockets.......I mean heart!!!!

In a recent interview with Prefixmag, Ghostface said:

Lately you and many other East Coast artists have been criticizing Southern hip-hop, in particular songs such as *Laffy Taffy.
Ghostface Killah: Man, that*s all y*all be talking about lately.
Playing devil*s advocate, do you think it*s because New York is jealous it lost the hip-hop crown?
Ghostface Killah: New York lost the crown because the New York deejays gave the crown away for some fucking money. New York be bullshitting. Right know, I say fuck New York. Yeah, I*m from New York, but fuck New York. Because niggas is pussy. They is so quick to jump on the next man*s dick and can*t even deal with what they got in front of they face.
That*s why I respect other states, man. New York, I don*t know - for some reason we started to get really soft. And now we act like we want that real hip-hop back, when our fucking deejays is only programmed to play what they playing. They playing more other people*s shit than our own shit. Niggas is screaming that real hip-hop — we trying to bring it back but we can*t even play that real hip-hop on the radio.
I knew New York was wack when they shot my man Amadou Diallo forty-one fucking times and ain*t nobody stand up. But if that shit happen in L.A. somewhere, they would have went to bat for Amadou Diallo. It would have been hell. Stores getting burnt the fuck up. New York don*t stand for nothing. They say if you don*t stand for something you will fall for anything. But we mad at ourselves and can*t even get our shit right. When you look at them other niggas* videos, they popping off and having fun in there. We can*t even have fun amongst each other in New York. That*s why I say fuck New York. That*s real talk coming from Ghostface Killah.

WOW! Maybe its not the PLACE afterall (BALTIMORE)...maybe - just maybe its the PEOPLE in the game!!! what you think? I think the grass isn't always greener on the other side...if folk like GF can't get no burn...what the hell do you think that says about the average Joe Schmoe's chance? Programming is an issue erewhere! I feel him on people nowadays not being willing to stand up for anything. IMO when you allow corrupt and unscrupulous people to conduct any kind of B.I. everyone suffers....EVEN when you think you are making out. Your time to get screwed is coming too. Our generation really needs to get some gumption! Bravo Ghost for speaking out!!!! Not 100% sure what your intentions were, but its all ghood, PREACH!!!!
    I do a lil preaching too......Check me out on MYSPACE @ www.myspace.com/clove

Well got d*yum, Bubba!!! (yall remember Mama's Family?)
The Bubba Sparxxs show has been CANCELLED with NO make-up date in sight!!!

Special Shoutout to my peoples, Ray Victory. Keep doing the damn thing!! Be on the look out for major things from his camp. Much love also goes out to S. Dot, host extraordinaire and DJ Nelly Nell, the "Blend King". Keep showing me how its supposed to be done.

Big Ups to the kid, Rockwell!!!! Finally got a CD from him after several instances of, "ima get it before I go"...he stopped me dead in my tracks and made me wait until he put it in my hand. Finally....I get around to listeting to it.....I look down....NO COVER!!!! at ALL.........just "Street Life Entertainment presents ROCKWELL THE EP" digitally printed on the CD in black ink...LOL! I must warn you...it's very plain looking. You may want to over look it....cast it to the side even......but if you but give it a chance you will find that there is nothing at all plain about the pictures he paints with his words....."Living Color"...would have been a more fitting title.

The EP includes titles: #1: B-More City #2: Get This Cash # 3 Must Be In Love #4 Rockwell (Fast past.....neck snapper) #5 Fight (A crowd fave...I've seen it performed)....all very very ghood. Production was on point...I was REALLY feelin the doo wop flair of "Must Be In Love"...Great Melody!!! Rockwell is always out in about...just holla @ him...he'll prolly give you one! He's also on Myspace. Go heaaaaaaaaad, Rockwell!! I'm impressed!

    Southern Lady

Some of yall may have been down already....but my eyes have just recently been opened to the sounds of J. Sands [of the Lone Catalysts]. He reached out the me on MYSPACE [ you have got to love it!] and apparently he is now a Maryland resident. Of course I had to go by his page and can honestly say .....I was definitely impressed with his music. I'm lovin the joint, "Southern Lady"....his flow.... sense of humor....the sample they used is crazy. He is the real deal yall....an indie artist that's actaully making moves. "I did my homework", as Bosslady would put it. I am impressed with what I found when I checked out his bio and googled him. Yet another sign (to me @ least).....all of the pieces are starting to come together.
Speaking of Southern Ladies.......Big Ups to all the Ladies making moves in Hip Hop [check out my current TOP 8 on MYSPACE]....there are soooo many I would hate to start naming folk and neglect to mention anyone. Buuuuuuuut, one in particular, deserves a tremedous amount of recognition today, Ms. Stress aka the undisputed Madame of Murderland. Her efforts and persistence have landed her the performance slot of a lifetime....in front of a stadium full of people and she hasn't even won a grammy yet. Stress beat out several other competitors for the chance to perform her original intro for the Washinton Mystics [WNBA] during their TUESDAY MAY 23, 2006 home game @ the MCI Center. This is MAJOR!!!! Congrats to the entire STRESSED OUT ENTERTAINMENT team!!! Also.....Her new CD, "Surviving Life" recieved rave reviews in this week's City Paper.

Peace to the United Hoods of America!!! I'm always showin love to my people on MYSPACE, I wanted to tap on a few keys for my homies that ain't here.
Added the Pittsburgh City Paper story
Shout out to Lyrical Leviathan!! He's from Pitt also!

I like the way you move!
Drama Is Her Middle Name : The Ritz Harper Chronicles Vol. 1.

Set to hit stores June 20th, this new book is based on Wendy Williams' alter Ego, DJ Ritz Harper.

It feels soooo good to be in the "[ concrete ]" loop:

Shock jock extraordinaire Wendy Williams lets loose with the first in a series of novels based on her alter ego, the divalicious radio DJ Ritz Harper. Ritz puts the *s* in shock and the *g* in gossip, and Drama is her middle name.Ritz is a suburban girl on the outside, but inside she*s a hustle*s hustler who*s masterfully maneuvered her way into the spotlight after ruining the career of a well-respected newswoman (and former college friend). Ritz*s *exclusive* rockets her to the top of the ratings, and she*s rewarded with her very own show. Like a talking Venus flytrap, she verbally seduces her on-air guests, only to have them for lunch as she spews gossip about their lives. Ritz becomes the darling of the station*s afternoon slot. But what happens when Ritz goes from drive-time diva to drive-by victim? Has Ritz bad-mouthed the wrong person? Has her signature cat-and-mouse *bomb drop* been dropped on her instead? As Ritz lies crumpled on a city sidewalk, all she can think as she struggles to maintain consciousness is *Who did this to me? Who?* Readers will salivate as they try to figure out where the fictional Ritz ends and the real-life Wendy begins. Wendy will involve her millions of listeners by asking them what should happen to Ritz, which will be revealed at the beginning of the next novel, scheduled to be published in fall of 2006 for Christmas.

I really admire this woman tremendously. There is no one else like her......I feel given the right format...she could really BLOW!!! She is really making some BIG moves.... I feel that it's coming. I'm soooo surprised that neither Cable One nor D.O.D. have offered her a TV show of her own yet. I read an article in Black Enterprises [i think that was the mag] about her show's executive producer that was great. Please believe, she has a serious team behind her. There is no way she could have gotten as far as she has without people around her to act as buffers to the shade she is no doubt thrown on a regular. There is no way she could have made it all this time talkin all that sh*t if she was telling a bunch of lies and just running her mouth. Why has she never been sued for liable or slander....if so, by whom and did they win? I think that is why she is such a polarizing figure....you figure..."she has to have her sources". She would have beeeeeeen shut down otherwise. Plus, there is no one else who's name get's mentioned in contemporary urban fiction [particularly books about the rap world] more than Williams. She is a cultural icon regardless of if you like her style or not!
I think she is making her disposition work for her. She is a Mess [yes!....BIG azz hair, hot pink lipstick, a chest that greets you before she does, brazen attitude, annoying voice], but she is also hella entertaining and that, my friend, is her JOB. I wish we could get her show in Bmore...I'd surly listen.
What's next??? she's done an album...this is like her second or third book...man, she "want$ in"..I feel that! I am a real sucker for a great piece of fiction...I literally can't wait to get my copy of this. She is soooo inspirational! I am not saying I want to be hated [which she certainly is, by some accounts], but hell.... people hate regardless .... even if you don't talk about them....so why not just put it out there & represent for the people that appreciate rawness. Now...I have to just stop talking about it and write my own d*mn book. I know I can tell a story that will make a few jaws drop...I think a few of the things that have happen to me over the last month would make for a VERY compelling read.... & the saga continues.....
Last week it was Tyson Beckford is gay [well actually she's been saying that forever....along with Puffy...Busta...Usher...& a few others].....& this week it's HOOPS (everyone's favorite diva from The Flava of Love) on her shit list......read on! This Hoops biz is KING!!! he he!
I got my page on MYSPACE @ www.myspace.com/clove ...& you can too....visit www.myspace.com.... let's become ghood, ghood friends!

    In the NEWS

The Clipse say they couldn't be in a better place than where they are now: touring with legends Ice Cube and Tha Dogg Pound. Coming to the 9:30 Club: Ice Cube w/ Tha Dogg Pound & Clipse SUN. MAY. 14 $35.00

Im really surprised the show isn't coming to Sonar.

    Hip-hop tour cancels gigs
"....The hip-hop tour teaming rappers Juvenile and Bubba Sparxxx, which was to have included stops Monday night at House of Blues in Anaheim and Sunday at House of Blues West Hollywood, has been canceled.Representatives of both acts' record labels said Monday that they did not know why the tour had been scrapped."
I can't imagine why either.....he he! what a combo anyway...LOL! Juve's been here [lackluster] and Bubba's on the way............we'll see!

I agree....It's bigger than Hip Hop! "Let's get free"...is not just a slogan/name of a Dead Prez album...it should be the mentality!
Looks like HOT 97 is telling its landlord... "Take that eviction notice and shove it up your........." but the landlord and city are not playin..."Yeah you may slow things down by simply not leaving, but we are gonna make your life hell".....the saga continues.....
I only saw Baltimore....then I kept reading....come to find out.....this is a wonderful story about Ebony's mom!! BRAVO, mama Dr. Lawson!!
You make me feel like I can do it too!!!

    oh Baltimore!
    Borrowed from [ http://www.kineticbaltimore.com/]:

From the American Visionary Art Museum - A race of wacky, imaginative, TOTALLY HUMAN POWERED WORKS OF ART DESIGNED TO TRAVEL ON LAND, THROUGH MUD, AND OVER DEEP HARBOR WATERS constructed out of used bicycles, gears, and parts, created by a lunatic genius who tinkers around in the garage or backyard (Do you know this person?) The machines can be simple, small crafts, piloted by only one brave soul, or they can be over 50 feet long, extremely well-engineered, sophisticated vehicles powered by a team of pilots......

NOW.....can you picture that? LOL! Well, just in case you can't...........he he! seeing is believing!

One thing that can never be said about Baltimore is that we lack culture and things to do. We have some truly interesting traditions in Baltimore that the whole family can enjoy. One of the most anticipated events of the year is always the American Visionary Art Museum's Kinetic Sculpture Race. I'd been hearing about it forever, but never actually ventured down there...until 2006. OMG!!! It was unlike anything I've ever seen before . The race stretched from Federal Hill to Canton I believe with one part of the race landing them smack dab in the middle of the Baltimore Harbor....LOL! There is no way in hell!!! Some folk LITERALLY had styrofoam coolers as their floataion devices.....then you had verhicles that looked like Lockhead Martin built them...LOL! [ see the ugly thing in the top left corner....that was a well crafted vehichle!!! They did an excellent job!!!] I am not sure what part was the most interesting....a)The contraptions [peep the poodle...it was awesome up close].....the costumes [one of the winning teams re-created The Wizard of Oz with the tornado, flying monkeys, dorothy (with a 5'oclock shadow...he he!) and all]....b)the trophies [OMG! the trophies were as crazy as the cars....the categories were hillarious].......c)the fact that these were grown azz adults participating in what looked like wild and unabashed fun...LOL! [damn! I have got to get rid of this ego] or d) the fact that these vehicles were created by the people who manned them....LOL! yes...for the most part, non- engineers are given the task of building an all terrain vehicle. I could go on and on...........

& some of you may say, "What does this have to do with Baltimore Hip Hop?"........EVERYTHING!!! I was there! fo sho! Hollaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! I had a great time....the weather was beautiful this weekend also!!! I would recommend this to everyone....Take the whole fam!!! Big Ups to Kelly Con...her uncle was a hairy chested flying monkey!!! he he!
oh yeah..........check out my Top 8 on www.myspace.com/clove .....& while your at it.....listen to that Silo "Clever Girl" track!!!! I am in Heaven...listened to it about 30 times yesterday.
